Action Stones: This terrific Fisher Price Castle comes with things called Action Stones, they are little round disks set into different parts of the castle, with the texture of a stone. These Action Stones have little foot sized indents that fit the feet of the included action figures like the king or his knights and when you put one of the figures into the 6 different Action Stones and rotate him then amazing, unexpected things happen.

Drawbridge: When you activate the drawbridge Action Stone the drawbridge drops and the gates swing open allowing you to enter the wonderful castle.

Revolving Throne: Have you been granted an audience with the King or challenged by one of his knights? Activating the throne Action Stone revolves the throne around so that the King or Knight are visible and facing you.

Hidden Stairs: What castle is complete without a hidden coridor or hidden stairs? Using the hidden stairs Action Stone swings several stairs out of a wall to form a secret, hidden stair case that leads up to the battlements.

Secret Passage: There’s a very useful secret in this imaginext Fisher Price Castle, are you trying to sneak past the guards, easy – use the secret passage Action Stone to slip through the castle walls undetected!

Way too cool

“My 6YO saw this at Target and couldn’t stop playing with it (in the box of course), looking it over and saying how great it was. He was so impressed that, for the first time, he didn’t spend his allowance on a book or small toy, but decided to save it so in a couple months or so, he could buy this.

I looked at it with him. The castle is very sturdy and well-made. There are also lots of cute accesories that can be purchased for it. The castle and accesories are cool enough for any kid. My teen-age daughter moaned “And when I was a kid, all I had were Barbies! Why didn’t we have this stuff?!?”

Finally, the “cool toy” age

“My 3-year old received this for his recent birthday, and he loves it. Heck, so do I! The version he has came packaged with the normally sold-separately jousting knights, so you may want to shop around at your local retailers first, or wait til Amazon gets that version. Anyway, there is a lot to do in this castle, it is a good value for the price, and it looks to be very durable.”

Castle toys: the castle itself

Depending on the age of your little prince or princess you may or may not go for these, but for the little ones – maybe ages 4 to 7 you can’t go past a Playmobil castle or a Fisher Price castle. These come with a range of castle toys, like some knights and a play mat that the castle sits on with a picture of a moat, etc. This is a great beginning and a real necessity, but you’re probably going to want to add a few other things as well.

Castle toys: destructive equipment & siege engines

Little boys particularly love destroying things if you haven’t already noticed! Don’t worry psychologists are now telling us this is healthy! There are some perfect castle toys now that will help your little man in a role-playing, constructive kind of way. Think medieval times and what they had back then; siege engines like battering rams, catapults, siege towers, cannons, trebuchets and even ballista’s are the main toys, some of them really work and are quite intricate.

Castle toys: good characters Good characters are always popular amongst the little boys and even the little girls. Toy knights are really well-liked of course, there’s something fascinating about an armour clad, heroic figure atop a valiant rearing steed. Toy knights are great fun, they’re the ones that always vanquish the nasty dragons and return to the castle to receive the honour and rewards from the King and Queen. Of course a toy castle wouldn’t be complete without a princess, after all who is the dragon after and who is the knight saving?

Castle toys: bad characters

What would a castle be without someone to attack it and its inhabitants, in reality that’s what castles were built for; protection. But what did they need protecting against? The simple answer in most fantasy stories is the ultimate evil monster, the dragon! Dragon toys are immensely popular with some amazing examples like the two-headed copper dragon. Another favourite monster after the Lord of the Rings trilogy of movies is the orc. Of course there are others, evil looking knights, ogres and giants, etc, etc.

Castle toys: other suggestions

There are a few other castle toys that will help your toy castle look more realistic, some peasants around the castle always give a bit of added realism. Some livestock like chickens, pigs and horses always go really well too. Oh and of course you can add some incredible miniature furniture and other household items that add amazing detail.
